What is PET polyester film

Polyester film is a film material made of polyethylene terephthalate as a raw material, made into thick sheets by extrusion, and then biaxially stretched. It is a colorless, transparent, glossy film with excellent mechanical properties, high rigidity, hardness and toughness, puncture resistance, friction resistance, high and low temperature resistance, chemical resistance, oil resistance, air tightness and fragrance retention Good, one of the commonly used barrier composite film substrates. However, the price of polyester film is relatively high, and the thickness is generally 12mm. It is often used as the outer layer material for retort packaging, and has better printability.

PET polyester film Features:

1). High mechanical strength. Its tensile strength is 5-10 times that of PE, and PET with a thickness of 12um can be used. Compared with nylon film, PET film is more rigid.

2). Good heat resistance and cold resistance. Melting point is 260℃, softening point is 230-240℃, even at high temperature, the heat shrinkage rate is still very small, has good dimensional stability, can be used within -70℃-150℃, resistant to freezing and high temperature cooking. (This uses PET as a cushion in the tilt heat sealer)

3). Good oil resistance and chemical resistance. Most solvents can not dissolve it except nitrobenzene, chloroform and benzyl alcohol. Acid resistant but not resistant to strong alkalis.

4). Good water resistance, low water absorption, and moisture resistance similar to LDPE. But the gas barrier properties are better than LDPE, and the fragrance retention is good.

5). Good transparency, light transmittance is above 90%, and it can absorb light with wavelength below 320mm.

6). Poor anti-ultraviolet permeability and high static electricity. Electrostatic treatment should be carried out before printing.

7). Not easy to heat seal.

PET polyester film Application:

1. Packaging materials

Used as a packaging material, mainly to protect the goods, prevent pollution, and extend the shelf life;Decorate and beautify products, increase the added value of products, etc. This requires this material to have good barrier properties, high and low temperature resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, good optical properties, good printability, and hygienic compliance with regulations. Specifically used in the following aspects:

(1) Printed composite film: In order to enhance the packaging effect, achieve complementary performance and sealing needs, composite films are often used.

(2) Vacuum aluminized film: widely used in the packaging of food, medicine, chemical and other products.

(3) Anodized aluminum (hot stamping film)

(4) Transfer film

(5) Laser anti-counterfeiting film

(6) Card-protecting film: It is formed by extruding and coating a layer of heat-sealable hot melt adhesive on PET film. Used for surface protection of various certificates, files, photos, etc.

(7) Heat-sealable film

(8) Heat shrinkable film

2. Decoration materials

(1) Gold and silver wire

China Plastics Network

(2) Gold cable

(3) Glass film

3. Electrical materials

Capacitor film, cable and wire package reuse insulating film, motor, transformer slot, phase insulating film, flexible circuit board, membrane switch, etc.

4. Photosensitive materials

X-ray film, microfilm, photographic film, etc.

5. Tape base

Audio tape base, video tape base, floppy disk, magnetic card, etc.
