What are the differences between flame retardant cables and fire-resistant cables?

原图1

1.The different of structural materials.

The materials of flame-retardant cables are mainly flame-retardant raw materials, and its outer layer is flame-retardant sheath, including its fillers. The fire-resistant cable is composed of conductor and insulating layer, and a fire-resistant layer is added in the middle.

2.The different of principle.

Flame retardant cables are mainly produced through the flame retardant effect of halogen materials, so that the temperature can be reduced by water and the purpose of flameout can be achieved. The fire-resistant cable is made of a mica material. According to the performance of this material, it has the characteristics of fire resistance and heat resistance, so it can prolong the service time in case of fire.

What is flame retardant wire and cable?

While maintaining the electrical and physical and chemical properties of ordinary cables, flame-retardant cables are self extinguishing, that is, they are not easy to burn. Or when the cables catch fire for some reason or are ignited by an external fire source, the cables will not continue to burn after the fire is extinguished, or the combustion time is very short (within 60 minutes), or the ignition delay length is very short.

Because of its low cost, it can block and delay the spread of flame along the cable, so that the fire will not expand. Therefore, it is widely used in fire-proof cables. The cable may be burnt out and cannot run in case of fire, but it can prevent the spread of fire and avoid greater losses.

The structure of flame-retardant cable is basically the same as that of ordinary cable. The difference is that its insulating layer, sheath, outer protective layer and auxiliary materials (wrapping and filling) are all or part of flame-retardant materials.

What is a fire resistant cable?

The fire-resistant wires and cables can work continuously (transmit current and signal) in case of fire, and whether the fire-resistant wires and cables can continue to burn or not is not included in the assessment. The flame-retardant cable will stop working soon in case of fire. Its function is that it is difficult to burn and can self extinguish without being affected; The fire-resistant cable can maintain normal operation for 180 minutes in the flame combustion of 750 ~ 800 ℃.

The fire-resistant cable has the power supply capacity for a certain period of time in the flame, and can maintain the normal operation of the line for a certain period of time in the case of flame combustion. Generally speaking, in case of fire, the cable will not burn at once, and the circuit is relatively safe.

The structure of fire-resistant cable is basically the same as that of ordinary cable. The difference is that the conductor of fire-resistant cable adopts copper conductor with good fire resistance (the melting point of copper is 1083 ℃), and a fire-resistant layer is added between the conductor and the insulating layer. The refractory layer is made of multi-layer mica tape. Because the allowable working temperature of different mica tapes varies greatly, the key to the fire resistance of cables is the mica tape.
